Let’s walk through the ceremony together so it’s just what you want. Depending on how many people are taking part, a short rehearsal can calm the nerves before the big day.
Eloping
Skip the stress and focus on your commitment to each other, with a bigger celebration later if you like. When family, school or military duty means time is short, call me any time. Under Connecticut’s new rules, allow at least two business days to get your license.

My family has lived in Greenwich for generations. It’s picturesque, and easy to work with when it comes to your marriage license. I’m happy to officiate in other towns, but this is where I’ve dedicated myself.
About me

Your wedding day is about you, and part of that is making sure everyone involved works together to make it special.
I’m a Harvard-trained writer and amateur historian who lives and works in Greenwich. My wife works at a preschool in town, and our children go to school here too.
I’ve served the town on the Representative Town Meeting, and I’m currently Greenwich’s Registrar of Voters and Election Administrator. Having organized four presidential elections for more than 30,000 voters at once, I can handle a ceremony of whatever size is right for you.

What you need to know
- 48 hours
- New since October 1, 2026: the town clerk can’t issue your license until at least 48 hours after you both apply in person. Plan on two visits to Town Hall.
- 65 days
- Once it’s issued, your license is good for 65 days, so you can get it well ahead of the wedding.
- Where to apply
- In the town where the ceremony will take place. In Greenwich, that’s the Town Clerk at Town Hall, 101 Field Point Road, by appointment. Bring photo ID. The Town of Greenwich charges $50 for the license, paid to the Town Clerk. My officiant fee is separate.
- 0 witnesses
- Connecticut doesn’t require witnesses. Only the two of you and your officiant need to be there. Invite as many guests as you like.
- No blood test
- You don’t need a blood test to get married in Connecticut.
- Your day, your way
- Rings are traditional but not required, and children, friends and family can all take part in the ceremony.
